Art advisory

Independent advice on building and developing a collection of modern and contemporary art, in acquisitions and sales.

What I do

Collection strategy and development

I work with the client to set the direction of the collection: the artists and periods to explore, the works to include and those that no longer fit the overall project. A collection of value is not the result of occasional purchases, but of a vision built over time.

Acquisitions

I search for and select works from galleries, auction houses and private collectors, in Italy and abroad. Before every purchase I check the provenance and documentation, the condition of the work and whether the price is in line with the market. When these checks raise questions that call for a wider enquiry, I carry out dedicated art historical research and due diligence.

Sales

I assist clients in selling individual works or parts of a collection. I identify the channel best suited to the work, whether an auction, a gallery or a private sale, prepare the documentation that accompanies it and follow the process through to the completion of the transaction.

Market analysis and artist research

I follow the market for the artists in the collection or of interest to the client, analysing auction results, exhibition and museum activity and the performance of prices over time.

How I work

Every engagement begins with an initial meeting, which serves to define the goals and direction of the project: the development of the collection, a single acquisition or a sale.

This is followed by a phase of study and analysis: market research, provenance research and a check of the condition of the work. On this basis I present detailed, documented proposals, so that every decision is informed and considered.

Once the course of action has been agreed, I handle the practical aspects with the same care, with confidentiality at every stage.

Appraisal and advisory services remain separate: if I appraise a work, I do not handle its sale under any circumstances.

Every collaboration begins with a conversation.
