My work

I advise private collectors and corporate clients in building, enhancing and managing their art collections. My work is organised in three main areas:

• Appraisals and valuations: for estates and the division of inheritances, insurance cover, disputes and loans secured on works of art.
• Art advisory: independent, strategic assistance in acquisitions and sales.
• Collection management: inventory, documentary records, coordination of conservation and the long-term care of collections.

Research is the foundation of my method. On instruction, I carry out in-depth art-historical research into the work, its provenance and its documentation, ahead of a purchase, a sale or an appraisal, drawing also on my specialist library of some twelve thousand volumes. I maintain direct relationships with galleries, auction houses, museums, foundations and artists' archives internationally.

Education and credentials

I hold a Master's in Art Business from Sotheby's Institute of Art, London. I am an Accredited Member of the Appraisers Association of America (AAA) and a member of the International Catalogue Raisonné Association (ICRA) and of the Catalogue Raisonné Scholars Association (CRSA). I collaborate with Gurr Johns, an independent art advisory and valuation firm, and I am a member of Art Advisory Group Ltd.

I am a registered expert with the Milan Chamber of Commerce and a court-appointed technical consultant (CTU) in the art sector at the Court of Milan. My appraisals are prepared in accordance with the international USPAP and IVS standards.

Where I work

I receive clients by appointment at my studio in via Lambertenghi 41, in the historic centre of Como. I work mainly across Como and Lake Como, Milan and the Canton of Ticino, as well as internationally, carrying out inspections at private residences and storage facilities. My appraisals and art advisory documentation can be prepared in Italian or English.
